A Head of Volunteering, with excellent organisational skills is required for our client ShareSoc, a fast growing, highly influential, not-for-profit society created by investors for investors.  The role will be home based.

ShareSoc aims to improve the investment experience for individual UK investors and to represent their best interests wherever this is needed, whether its lobbying, addressing wrongs or enabling better investment.

ShareSoc is a not-for-profit and Directors are unpaid. It provides services to members including news, company information, investor education resources and networking opportunities with other investors. And promotes Shareholder Engagement with quoted companies through the many events organised for members and online forums to promote discussion and the exchanging of views between investors.

Candidates will ideally have a good understanding of UK stock markets and probably invest, to some degree.

You will be expected to contribute 2-3 days per month. Candidates who would like to contribute more time (as the current Non Execs tend to do) will be welcome. The position is unremunerated, but expenses are reimbursed.

A Non Exec role could be offered to the right candidate if the opportunity appears in the future.

Head of Volunteering Requirements:

We are looking for a Head of Volunteering to:

  • Lead the establishment and operation of a Volunteering capability for ShareSoc, reporting into the Support & Infrastructure Sub-Committee.
  • Define the structure and process for running a volunteer programme.
  • Help identify the needs for resources, i.e. defined projects and /or skill sets required.
  • Identify and organise the resources in the form of existing volunteers, whether internal or external to ShareSoc membership.
  • Recruit other suitable volunteers.
  • Define specific roles for volunteer positions / mandates: Goals, responsibilities, time commitment, operational parameters, timescales, project plans, budgets etc.
  • Onboard of volunteers into / out of projects.
  • Knowledge of the stock market and a retail investor (FTSE & AIM) is essential.
  • Some experience of not-for-profit or charity organisations (or Government bodies or quangos) would be helpful but not essential.

 

Initial projects list for new Volunteers might include:

  • Help with PR
  • Contribute to Editorial for Newsletters, web site, blogs and 3rd party content
  • Contribute to. articles on Specific shares, funds, market trends etc.
  • Digital Marketing – Advisory
  • Audio Visual production (Videos for marketing. Podcasts, Webinars)
  • Assist with shareholder Campaign Leads and enquiries
  • Help assess new membership types
  • Partnerships & Alliances
  • Assist with Event Management – webinars and masterclasses
  • Being involved in membership recruiting marketing campaigns e.g. targeting new segments (Marketing)
