Rusthall Lodge Care Home

https://www.rusthalllodgekent.co.uk

Founded in 1968, Rusthall Lodge Housing Association is a Tunbridge Wells based independent Charity that places residents and families at the heart of everything that they do.

They operate a large 69 bed, purpose-built care home which has recently been rated by CQC as Good. The home cares and supports older adults with compassion and dignity providing both residential and nursing care packages.

Their vision is to provide excellent care and support, to continuously improve the quality of our services and to make people’s lives better, every day.

Their mission is to develop a Home based on integrity, reliability and trust. Their focus will be on improving and developing, the quality of care and support they provide including:

  • Our staff, through training, mentoring and self-development.
  • Meaningful partnerships with the people we support and in the wider community.
  • A reputation for excellence in everything we do.

Their heritage is firmly set in the past, but ‘our thinking and our approach to care is towards the future’.

Rusthall Lodge began life as the former home of Miss Margaret Fremlin; a rather grand Victorian/Edwardian house that sits in beautiful grounds. In the mid-60s, the Council of Service Housing Society based in Monson Road in Tunbridge Wells had seen a need to “provide for local people of limited means and in need of care and attention”.

As a result of Miss Fremlin’s generosity and the dedication and hard work and kindness of a few other local benefactors and supporters, Rusthall Lodge opened on 1st January 1968.

Trustees

Following the retirement of a long-serving Trustee and with an eye to exploring new opportunities, First Flight is recruiting a Trustee to the Rusthall Lodge Board. They are looking for a professional person to join the Board and particularly interested in someone with Commercial Property expertise (ideally in the C2 category which covers the provision of residential accommodation and care to people in need of care). Alternatively, they would be interested in hearing from candidates with relevant legal expertise in commercial property.

The Trustees provide Governance to the organisation, working with the Chair of Trustees and the Senior Management team to offer strategic guidance and oversight that ensures that the values and objectives of the Association remain at the heart of any decisions made.

As a Trustee you will be expected to attend 6 Board Meetings per year along with 6 Sub Committee meetings and attend some of the events hosted by Rusthall Lodge.

The Trustees play an integral part in the way Rusthall Lodge is run, ensuring the Charity remains sustainable and financially viable. The help the Trustees provide is invaluable to the continued success of Rusthall Lodge and to all the people they support.

Time Commitment

  • 6 Board Meetings each year
  • 6 Sub Committee meetings each year
  • Approximately 2 additional half days/days each year for strategy work or events
