A Trustee is required for a Kent based mindfulness charity.  Tenterden Mindfulness Group (TMG) are seeking to recruit a suitably experienced Treasurer (Trustee) to guide and support financial control and growth as the charity moves into its next stage of development.

Tenterden Mindfulness group is a leading provider of Mindfulness training both locally, in Kent and East Sussex, as well as nationally via on-line offerings. They are committed to helping improve physical, social, mental and emotional health through education in the practice of Mindfulness across the age spectrum.

The overall role of the Treasurer is to:

  • Maintain an overview of the charity’s affairs and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
  • Oversee the charity’s ongoing financial viability and alert the Trustees to potential issues.
  • Ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
  • Work with TMG’s administrator who manages the day to day finances to oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.
  • The Treasurer will also be expected to attend online Quarterly Board Meetings along with online Operational Management Group hour-long meetings which are approximately monthly.
  • This is a voluntary role however expenses will be covered where applicable.

 

Ideally the new Treasurer will have:

  • Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management (as necessary).
  • Good financial analysis skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the public or charity sector.
