Non-Executive Director (Non Exec) is required for the Manufacturing Technology Centre Ltd (MTC).
We are seeking high calibre candidates who have a track record in commercial or public life; command the respect of the manufacturing and engineering industry; who have a high profile within government; further skills we are seeking include:
- substantial board level experience in business acknowledged for their success, decision making and governance capabilities
- strategic and commercial expertise combined with highly effective influencing and communication skills
- previous experience of a Non-Executive Director role
The total time commitment is 25 days a year for which the Non Exec will receive remuneration of £34,800 pa.
Board Meetings are held at MTC’s offices in Coventry.
MTC and its Market:
The Manufacturing Technology Centre was established in 2010 with the objective of bridging the gap between academia and industry. It represents one of the largest public sector investments in UK manufacturing. MTC is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, supported by Innovate UK and has over 85 industrial members including some of the UK’s largest global manufacturers.
Only 5 years after they opened, they now employ more than 400 staff, have over 85 industrial members and operate in sectors as diverse as automotive, aerospace, rail, informatics, food & drink, construction/ civil engineering, electronics, oil & gas and defence.

The Non-Executive Director role
- MTC is seeking a Non-Executive Director to join its main Board. This person will replace an existing NED who is taking the role of the Chair due to the current Chair retiring.
- There is a fee for the role: £34,800 a year + reasonable expenses.
- The appointment is for an initial 3 year period. This may be renewed for a further 3 years by agreement. The maximum length of time served by the NED is two terms in office.
- The Non Exec will be expected to attend 5 Board Meetings pa plus Sub-Committee meetings - overall the time commitment will be the equivalent of 25 days a year including preparing for Board & Sub Committee Meetings. MTC will arrange a tailored induction for the successful candidate. Occasional other events such as social occasions will also be expected.

- Substantial board level experience and prior experience of being a Non-Executive Director.
- Strategic and commercial expertise.
- Command the respect of the manufacturing and engineering industry.
- Commercial and government connections will be highly valued.
- Sufficient time availability to commit 25 days a year.
