First Flight is delighted to be supporting Rockdale Village, an award-winning, community-based charitable organisation nestled in the heart of Sevenoaks, in the appointment of three specialist Trustees to its Board.
A true hidden gem, Rockdale has been supporting older people since 1948, providing a welcoming community where independence, companionship and quality of life come first.
Today, Rockdale is home to over 200 sheltered housing residents, alongside a 50-bed residential care home, with nursing and domiciliary care services introduced in 2025.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Rockdale reinvests its surpluses into its services and facilities, ensuring its residents remain at the heart of everything it does.

Three Trustee Opportunities
Rockdale is seeking individuals with specialist expertise in the following areas:
Finance Trustee
A fully qualified accountant with broad business experience, able to provide strategic financial oversight, support financial sustainability, advise on treasury and asset management, and oversee financial risk, audit and regulatory compliance.
Legal Trustee
A qualified legal professional or individual with equivalent senior legal experience, able to provide strategic legal insight, support effective governance and advise on regulatory compliance, risk management and decision-making.
Clinical Trustee
An experienced healthcare, nursing or adult social care professional able to provide strategic oversight of clinical quality, safeguarding, resident safety, CQC compliance and continuous improvement.
Looking for Your First Board Appointment?
Securing your first Non-Executive Director or Trustee role can be challenging, particularly when many opportunities require previous board experience.
Voluntary trusteeship can be an excellent first step into the boardroom.

Previous board experience is not essential. Rockdale welcomes applications from experienced professionals seeking their first appointment, as well as established NEDs and Trustees looking to broaden their portfolios.

Time Commitment and Location
The anticipated commitment is approximately 10 meetings per year, including Board and Committee meetings and an annual strategy day, with some additional audit visits required.
Most meetings take place face to face in Sevenoaks, so candidates should ideally live within reasonable travelling distance or have knowledge of the region.
Appointments are for an initial three-year term, renewable for a further three years.
These positions are voluntary and unpaid.
