Our client is transforming the “car sharing” sector with specialised AI tools for vehicle monitoring. Their solutions ensure fleet operators can maintain vehicle safety, cleanliness, a good public image and well-behaved customers. Meanwhile, they prevent users from encountering damaged or messy vehicles, or worse, receiving an unexpected repair fee. Unlike current solutions that require manual intervention or impact customer experience, our client offers an automated, affordable system built for shared mobility's rapid vehicle turnover and exponential growth. Our client is currently piloting with Hiyacar, London's fourth-largest car club, leveraging their database of approximately 600,000 images to train their AI models. As the sharing economy continues to revolutionise mobility, our client’s technology provides the essential infrastructure to support this transformation. Their vision is to become the global leader in AI-powered monitoring solutions that enable the shared-mobility industry to scale efficiently and sustainably.

NB: shared mobility includes car-sharing peer-to-peer, car-sharing B2C, car rentals, taxis, robo-taxis, and ride-hailing.

The company is based in London, and they are seeking three to four investing Non-Executive Directors with the following areas of expertise:

  • Shared Mobility Network Expert Extensive connections with key decision makers in global shared mobility services, fleet management companies, and vehicle rental platforms. We are also open to related fields such as motor insurance and valet services. Experience in strategic partnerships and ability to open doors to potential clients and collaborators in rapidly evolving mobility markets.
  • CFO / Investment Expert (AI B2B Technology) Highly connected within the angel investor and VC ecosystem specialising in AI and SaaS solutions. Proven track record of raising capital for B2B technology startups with specific expertise in AI applications, machine learning implementation, and scaling AI startups towards Series A and beyond.
  • Business Strategist Extensive experience in scaling early-stage AI and mobility startups. Strong background in go-to-market execution, B2B sales strategies, and commercial partnership development within the automotive and transport tech sectors. Proven track record of translating innovative technology into viable business models and securing key industry relationships.
  • Founder Development Expert Deep experience in mentoring first-time founders through critical growth phases. Specialised in early-stage brand development, marketing, team building and founder coaching with particular focus on solo founders navigating rapid growth. Skilled at establishing organisational foundations for sustainable scaling.

 

All candidates are likely to have an interest in shared mobility, smart cities, technology or all of the above. In addition, business strategy/growth experience and to have been involved in fast-growing early-stage businesses or divisions.

It is expected that the role will require approximately 2 or 3 days per month – potentially more in the early stages.

The incoming Non-Executive Directors will be encouraged to become shareholders in the Company with an Initial investment of a minimum of £25k to £50k to align their interests with that of the existing Board Members. The company is pre-approved for SEIS & EIS tax relief. 

Milestones:

  • Company spun-out from the founder’s Master’s at Imperial College London.
  • Company receives monthly mentoring sessions from Experts in Residence from Imperial’s Enterprise Lab.
  • Company participated in Plexal’s Product Builder Program.
  • Company formed partnerships with Hiyacar and Co-Wheels and established a relationship with CoMoUK to ensure the product meets their accreditation standards.
  • Various methods of data labelling were tested to find the most cost-effective and high quality solutions.
  • Company underwent an Innovation Voucher Project with the Hartree Centre and BridgeAI and is currently planning a second follow-up project.
  • Currently running a pilot with Hiyacar, the fourth largest car-club in the UK.

 

Objectives

  • Sign Hiyacar and Co Wheels as the first two customers in the next year.
  • Improve and expand model offerings to meet customer needs, this includes labelling more data.
  • Prepare demos ready for the MOVE trade fair (June 2025).
  • Establish a brand with marketing material.
  • Focus on expanding customer base and lead generation through targeted outreach to fleet operators, car-sharing platforms, and mobility service providers.
