A Non-Executive Director (Non Exec) specializing in HR is required for a leading housing association based in London.

Our client provides housing for those who are unable to afford to rent privately, and helps working households on modest incomes to own their own home. They also provide services to people with support needs to enable them to live fulfilling independent lives.

The appointed Non-Exec will be required to sit on the Governance Sub-Committee.

The Company

  • Our client is a provider of affordable housing and care and support services in London and the Home Counties and has strong social values allied to commercial and business expertise.
  • It owns and manages over 6,000 homes and has a turnover of £60 million.
  • Its services include key worker accommodation, shared ownership and social housing for both general tenants and vulnerable tenants with learning disabilities and mental health issues. These tenants often require additional support and services which the organisation also provides.
  • They also build some homes for outright sale, because the profits from the sales help to finance their charitable activities
  • The organisation is based in London, a short walk from a major rail and tube station.

Non-Exec Director Role/Requirements:

We are looking for a Non-Exec Director to sit on the Governance Sub-Committee with the following requirements:

  • A breadth of experience in the basic aspects of HR including: recruitment, performance management; and organizational development
  • Employment law competent
  • Experienced in change management
  • Experience in a range of sectors including some public/not for profit
  • Previous experience of being Non-Exec is not necessary

The Non-Executive Director will be expected to work on average 1-2 days per month (more during the first 6 months to accommodate induction).  They will be expected to attend 4 Board meetings a year (in early evening), 2 one day ‘strategy planning events’ (held on a weekend), serve on the Governance committee in addition to the main Board which will meet 2-4 times a year and attend occasional training sessions and site visits.

The remuneration package for this role is of £4.5k per annum.
