A Non-Executive Director (Non Exec) is required for Mattioli Woods plc, a £200m mkt cap, AIM Listed, Wealth Management company based in Leicester.

We are looking for a Non Exec who is highly entrepreneurial and can demonstrate a successful track record as Director of a company which they have grown from £200m to £750m + mkt cap or PE equivalent. A knowledge of financial services is essential.

The Board meets 7 times pa in Leicester plus Sub-Committees and strategy reviews; the time requirement will be 2-3 days per month covering formal and informal time plus initially more during induction. The remuneration is iro £45-50k pa depending on membership/Chairing of Sub-Committees.

  • The Company’s wealth management services include: financial planning, including wealth building and trust planning; investment services, including portfolio management, structured products and individual savings account (ISAs); pensions, including self-invested personal pensions (SIPPs) and small self-administered schemes (SSAS); property, including real estate investment trust (REIT), syndicated property and property insurance; protection, including life insurance and income protection. Employee benefits include flexible benefits, pensions and workplace savings, financial education and employee engagement.
  • The Company has over 600 employees and operates through ten offices throughout the UK including Scotland and Northern Ireland and with a Group office in Leicester where Board Meetings are held.
  • Mattioli Woods has total assets under management, administration and advice of £9.4bn (2018: £8.7bn).
  • Current revenues are £58m (2019) with ambitions to grow revenues to £100m and total client assets to £15bn while maintaining an EBITDA margin of 20%.
  • With these goals in mind, the Company’s strategy remains focused on achieving sustainable levels of organic growth, supplemented by strategic acquisitions (20 acquisitions to date) that enhance value and broaden the Group’s expertise.

 

Non-Exec Director Requirements/Criteria

  • Quoted Company Executive Director who has grown a business from sub £200m to £750m + mkt cap or PE equivalent.
  • Must be ambitious and entrepreneurial with sound commercial acumen.
  • Must be a business visionary with a strong focus on contributing to, and challenging strategy.
  • M & A experience is essential as the company has made 20 acquisitions to date and has an active pipeline of potential acquisitions.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Knowledge of financial services and wealth management sector is beneficial.
  • A background in the fintech sector is also beneficial.
  • You will join the Remuneration Committee and be appointed Chair within 12 months so must have recent and relevant experience.
  • You will also join the Audit Committee, the Risk Committee and/or the Nomination Committee.
  • You will not need to already be an approved person with the FCA but you will need to be internally certified by Mattioli Woods for your competence under the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR).
  • You will not be “over boarded” and therefore have sufficient time availability to make an effective contribution.

 

Time commitment is 2-3 days per month for Board and Sub-Committee meetings plus strategy reviews, initially more during induction. Board Meetings are held seven times pa in Leicester and business update calls.

Remuneration is iro £45-50k pa depending on membership/Chairing of Sub-Committees.
