A Non-Executive Chair is required for 2gether Support Solutions a wholly owned subsidiary of one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT).

We are seeking candidates who have previously been a Chairman with excellent leadership qualities who will be able to galvanise the Board, ensure good Governance, support the management team and deliver agreed returns to their shareholder. The successful candidate will take the lead of the company’s strategy and ensure they deliver on their agreed objectives.

Remuneration is £40k pa for 2-3 days per month (formal & informal time) for Board & Sub Committee Meetings.

Business Concept:

  • The Trust has established 2gether Support Solutions as a social enterprise principled limited company so that core facilities and support services can continue to be operated successfully but with the added benefits that a private sector culture and approach can bring.
  • 2gether Support Solutions will bring together current Serco employees and in-house support teams including estates, facilities management and procurement with an annual turnover of c £300m, allowing the Trust to focus on delivering excellent care whilst at the same time providing essential support services and solutions, bringing innovation and best practice to enhance services over time.
  • The three areas of strategic priority are:
    • Training and employment opportunities;
    • Supply chain opportunities for local companies; and
    • Social responsibilities and community engagement
  • 2gether with c1,300 staff and its shareholder East Kent Hospitals with c7,500 staff are major employers in Kent. As such there is an opportunity and a responsibility to consider how we can better interact, influence and support the social enterprise agenda in Kent.

 

Non-Exec Chairman Requirements/Criteria:

Specific requirements are:

  • Previously a Board Level Director of a c£200m business with ideally a healthcare or facilities management background.
  • Substantive Chair experience and personal gravitas.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
  • Proven mentoring skills – the Chair will be expected to work closely with the CEO to achieve their objectives.
  • Good Strategy and Governance credentials.
  • Successfully managing and growing a social enterprise business.
  • Uphold the standards of conduct set out in The Nolan Principles of Public Life.
  • Sufficient time availability to commit up to 2-3 days per month.

Remuneration is £40k pa for 2-3 days per month (formal & informal time) for Board & Sub Committee Meetings and preparation time. 

Board meetings will be held monthly initially at East Kent Hospital in Canterbury, then quarterly Board Meetings plus an Audit subcommittee meeting.
