Non-Executive Director (Non Exec) with digital marketing and communications experience is required for a Healthtech Events Company, based in London.

The company has already raised some funds and is currently Crowdfunding for £150k for a 9% equity stake within the company. The company is looking to strengthen their Board with the appointment of two Non-Executive Directors to contribute to the growth of the company.

We are also seeking a 2nd Non Exec with successful finance and financial management experience.

The Non-Executive Directors will be encouraged to become a shareholder in the Company to align the incoming Non Exec’s interest with that of the existing Directors who are or plan to become shareholders.

  • Our client is already established as a leading int’l healthtech innovation event, which enables global corporates and investors to learn from & engage with innovators, doctor-entrepreneurs, start-ups, and academics.
  • Addressing a large gap in the market, our client is the leading 3-day innovation event combining conferences, exhibitions, and workshops; and showcasing world-leading health technologies.
  • Global issues including the ageing of society, enhanced consumer expectations, and relentless cost pressure on healthcare systems create continual growth in demand for healthcare technology solutions.
  • Many industries have annual “blockbuster” events with 50,000+ delegates; these events are invaluable ‘market places’ to fuel trade. Yet there is no annual “blockbuster” event in the health-tech innovation ecosystem. Our client is successfully addressing this gap in the market.
  • Market size. Healthcare is $9.3 trillion globally, and the UK conference sector is £19.9bn. Competitors: Medica (Dusseldorf), Health 2.0 (Barcelona), and others.
  • Business model: multiple revenues streams: delegate tickets, exhibitor and sponsorship packages, demo stage, awards dinner. All sold both online and offline.
  • The company has over 92 years of relevant management expertise and aims to be the largest, and most valuable, healthcare tech innovation event in Europe.
  • The company is seeking crowdfunding of £150k (SEIS approved) which will be used for Platform Design, Marketing, both digital and PR and Day to Day running costs
  • The founders & initial investors are looking to ‘exit’ the company within 3-4 years, likely via a trade sale or a private buyer. Financial forecasts indicate a 20x return for investors.

Non-Exec Director Role/Requirements/Expertise:

  • Ideally Director level with experience of digital marketing and communications.
  • Strategic thought-leadership contribution to our client’s ongoing pursuit of ‘product to market fit’.
  • Contribute to improving the company’s segmentation, customer category needs analysis, and product development including pricing and all the fundamental aspects of service delivery.
  • Overseeing the design and implementation of marketing communication programmes: website, email marketing, social, SEO & partnerships.
  • Proven ability to provide guidance on a winning marketing strategy and key messaging and advice on getting the best from the marketing investment.
  • Experience of working with start-up companies through to exit.
  • International networking is a forte.
  • It is expected that the role will require approximately 2 days per month – more in the early stages.
  • The Non Exec will be encouraged to become a shareholder in the Company to align the incoming Non Exec’s interest with that of the existing Directors who are all shareholders. The company will be registered for the EIS scheme which provides 30% tax relief and up to 100% capital gains relief subject to status.
  • Remuneration will be through share options at least until the company is profitable.
